Kate Chopin (1850-1904) was an American author of short stories and novels. She was born in St. Louis, but moved to New Orleans following her marriage to Oscar Chopin. After Oscar’s cotton business went south, they moved to his family’s plantation in northwestern Louisiana. Their marriage would only last 12 years, due to Oscar’s death. Kate was left a young widow with six children, so she turned to writing. Her work received much criticism at the time due to its openness with sexuality at the time. Julianne Pachico is a British-American author of literary fiction novels. Born in Cambridge, England, Julianne spent her childhood years in Cali, Colombia, where her parents worked as agricultural social scientists. She moved in Portland, Oregon to earn her B.A. in Comparative Literature from Reed College. She then went back to England to earn her M.A. in Prose Fiction and her PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. Order of Oz Reimagined Books
Oz Reimagined in a series of short stories edited by John Joseph Adams and Douglas Cohen. The series takes the characters created by L. Frank Baum and turns them on their head. Most of the stories range from 15-20 pages, and have a recommended reading age of 13+. Included are stories by Simon R. Green, Jonathan Maberry, Tad Williams, Orson Scott Card, David Farland, Jane Yolen, Rachel Swirsky, Robin Wasserman, Seanan McGuire, Jeffrey Ford, Dale Bailey, Theodora Goss, Ken Liu, Rae Carson and C.C.
